doubts

February 23rd, 2006

when the impossible is put infront of you. you can’t help but doubt.

that is how i felt for the past week. it was a silent battle. because God asked me to embark on a journey, a journey that would lead to great things.

but, dispite the strong calling set within me, all i could do was look down the path. i was afraid to put my foot on the road. afraid that all those great things would never come to be, because i knew it was impossible. i argued with myself. even though i knew that all things were possible through God. I just couldn’t find the passion to trust in the Lord with all my heart. to put down my doubts and look ahead.

but you know. you will never see the outcome, unless you stand up for what you beleive in.

everything has a counter-part. light and darkness. fire and water. heaven and hell. male and female. faith and doubt. everything works in pairs, for better or for worse. you see, water douses fire - but fire also boils water. light can cut through darkness, but darkness can also shroud the light. weak faith can make you doubt, but a strong faith can disperse any second thoughts.

so i just closed my eyes and stepped forward. because i realized… that with complete faith i could conquer my doubts.

although it’s easier said than done, i think that it’s the first step that counts. because no matter where you land you’ve already taken that leap of faith and theres no turning back.

~

but if you do decide to stay off that road, doubt will overtake you. and you will never get a chance to see all the riches that God has in store for you.

in all aspects of your life. if you believe you can do it, then you’ll have no regrets.

tough

February 23rd, 2006

we were made in the image of God.

yet all we, humans, can think about is ourselves.

why were we made this way? It’s such a ungodly characteristic. It makes us selfish, jealous, hate, cheat, lie. do anything to accomplish things that satisfy our own needs.

It takes effort to show empathy, and love others out of our comfort zone.

are we more important than God himself? we turn away. we choose to ignore Him, the Alpha and Omega. wheres the logic in our freewill. even after hearing the truth, that His son died out of love to save us, we brush it aside like it didn’t happen. as if it were a fictional story. Because we can’t fathom anyone who would actually do such a thing. to die an innocent death willingly for the lives of many.

I must be tough. to create beings out of love, but not being able to have that love returned.

tough love.

let go

February 22nd, 2006

hurt. pushed away. rejected. outcasted. looked down on. beat up. abandonned

the pain caused leave big scars even when fully healed. however, not many people recover from these experiences. they live with these events, and never full recover.

they change. they resent others. refuse to forget.

but remember, healing starts only when you decide to let go of all things that cause you grief. a wound will never fully heal if you keep opening it up.

don’t despair. be couragous. forgive, accept, and look forwards. not backwards.

because one day, the scar left behind will be your testimony to the world.

undeserved

February 13th, 2006

when your hurt or offended sometimes you don’t feel like forgiving your friends.

you want them to approach you and feel sorry about what they did. and ask for your forgiveness. and in some respects, when you forgive them it’s not like your doing it out of your kindness. in a sense you wait for them to learn a lesson. feel guilty, struggle, and suffer. and after all that we forgive them because we feel like they have paid a price.

if somebody hurt you, sometimes don’t you just want to hold off forgiving them so you can make them feel bad? you want to gain something in return. we want something in return for the pain we felt; compensation. and because of this mindset the way we forgive others does not reflect God’s way. God forgave us, even when we didn’t deserve it.

forgiving the underserved.

that’s a powerful action. if somebody hurts you, and they don’t know it. would you approach them and tell them ‘your forgiven’, instead of holding a grudge…

We hurt God without knowing it most of the time, but He still turns around and forgives us unconditionally. Jesus died to forgive the undeserved. can we follow what He did?

if you’ve had a grudge, can you just drop it and forgive them? tell them, out of the blue, that ‘it’s ok’ that you just want to start ‘fresh’ - i’m sure if we could the world would be a different place.

He who can see into the future

February 9th, 2006

God is all-knowing. Which means He knows everything. even though it may be hard to wrap our minds around the fullness of that ability, this implies that God can see into the future.

now a few days ago, i got into a discussion about a topic related to God seeing into the future. so heres the question… “if God is all knowing, and He knows all the choices you will make in life - does that mean we, as His creations, have no free will.” (it sounds rediculous, but you will see why this question picks at the foundation of our faith)

think, since we go through life doing things that God already knows, what is the difference between creating a robot and a human if our actions are already predictable. if His intentions were to create humans to choose to love Himself, why do it if you already know the outcome from the very beginning. (I will be coming back to this, just think about it throughout my post)

also, we say that God has a plan for everyone of us. don’t deny it. we say it all the time. i mean, if we pray for something and the unexpected happens - we say that it was according to God’s plan. When praying for guidance, we say that God has His plan for us and we just have to pour our faith into Him. And how often has something terrible happend, but we say that it has happened for a reason. either as a lesson, or a test of our faith~ if we are indeed living lives in accordance to God’s ‘plan’ where is our freewill? if God indeed has this ‘blueprint’ of our lives, where does our freewill come into play? it’s as if we are walking down a path that has already been predetermined.

but now lets put things into perspective. we go through life doing the things we choose. sure it seems like we freewill. So why doubt it? why was the answer unclear before? because there a key factor that was overlooked earlier in the post. and that is, what God knows does not equate to what we know. even though God knows where we are headed, we don’t. so therefore we are not cornered into any types of decisions. all the decisions we make are done entirely in accordance to our own freewill.

but lets put another spin on this. what about divine intervention? when God manifests himself to us… you see, up till now we have been making all the decisions on our own. that justifies our freewill. but what happens when God decides to give you advice. or when God acts.

the isrealites left egypt because of God. what about their freewill? did they have a choice?? the isrealites were living their lives, and then God appears and turns their world upside down. is it fair for God to do that? wouldn’t that be considered medling in our freewill?

or..

what about saul. he was a zealot scholar persecuting christians everywhere he went. but then God spoke to him and turned him right around. what choice did he have? he was spoken to by God, and he knew it, so then why continue persecuting?

does divine intervention interfere with our freewill? when things aren’t going according to Gods plan, does he manifest Himself to us?

so now lets cover all our bases. lets define freewill.
freewill (adj.) - Done of one’s own accord; voluntary
so lets look back to divine intervention. when God sticks in fingers in things, you will still have the choice to do whatever you want. God never takes away your choices, He may tell you they are wrong. but in the end, you are free to do whatever you want. the isrealites could have stayed behind in egypt if they wanted to - it would’ve been their choice (however they would’ve probably died). also saul could’ve chosen to refuse to believe God, but that would’ve just been ingnorant. but nevertheless, their choice was there.

God is like a friend. a good friend, who influences you to do what is right. what friend would just let you choose something without warning you about the consequences. and when we pray to God and he reveals something to us, it is not because He is forcing us down a road, but rather He is giving us information so that we can make the best decision on our own. (even though He already knows our decision)

so even though He knows the future, He does not take away our freewill.

now if God knew that the world would succumb to sin, why would He even start in the beginning? (i asked this question in the beginning. i hope you didn’t forget about it!) If He knew we were going to fall away from Him and delve into sin, why start?

He created us in His image to share His great love with us. and instead we just throw it away. what was the point? but, we only ask these questions because we have never experienced anything like it before.

if u asked a mother who’s 16 year old child has been diagnosed with certain cancer - “would you rather not have a child if you knew this was going to happen?” the mother would tell you - “no, because he/she has given me 16 years of joy”

and likewise, before the fall of man. i’m sure we gave God alot of Joy also. being able to share His perfect love. God created us out of love. and likewise, because He saw into the future - He saved us out of love also, through His son Jesus Christ.

And in the end~ it’s all about Love. And God IS Love.
put yourself in God’s shoes. and even if we can’t fathom His greatness, we can imagine and maybe we will come to know him better.
