The Holy Ghost
“You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.”
- Ephesians 1:13-14
Who or what is the Holy Spirit?!
Some view the Holy Spirit as a mystical force or some concept. Others understand the Holy Spirit as some sort of impersonal power available to followers of Christ. But what does the Bible say about the identity of the Holy Spirit? The Bible says that the Holy Spirit is God. The Bible also tells us that the Holy Spirit is a Person, a Being with a mind, emotions, and a will.
The Holy Spirit thinks and knows. (1 Corinthians 2:10) The Holy Spirit can be grieved. (Ephesians 4:30) The Spirit intercedes for us. (Romans 8:26-27) The Holy Spirit makes decisions according to His will. (1 Corinthians 12:7-11) The Holy Spirit is God, the third “Person” of the Trinity. As God, the Holy Spirit can truly function as the Comforter and Counselor that Jesus promised He would be (John 14:16,26; 15:26)

The Spirit can help people evangelize (Acts 1:8 or Acts in general). The Spirit speaks through people (2 Chron 24:20, Matt 10:19-20, Mark 13:11). And the best yet, “And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions; and also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days” (Joel 2:28,29)
