Sick

Sick man

As part of some “widely-sick” joke (according to Victor), I have contracted – along with the rest of UWCCF members – a ghastly cough and some cold like symptoms.

It’s funny how sickness has a way of bringing you back to a child-like state. All of a sudden I find myself helpless again. Simple tasks become increasingly harder as the hours pass by. Walking, Eating, Showering, and the works. The bed suddenly becomes your best friend, and sleep your new favorite past time.

I’m surprised by how little it takes to bring down a working body. Bacteria of all things!? Life is frail. And morality is very real. Yet, it’s easier to think I’m invincible than to admit defeat to these things. Health is a funny thing. We take it for granted till the minute we lose it. Then all of a sudden, we count the days until we can go back to normal. For most, a week or so will do the trick. For others, months, years, or even never.

I’m reading a book now called Surprised by Hope, and one thing that has struck a chord with me already explains that the Kingdom of God has already arrived here on earth. Christ has already brought the Kingdom of Heaven down. We do not need to wait till we die and go to heaven for all our sickness and pain to go away. We have entered a life where full salvation has been given to us. We are already citizens of the Kingdom of God (aka. Kingdom of Heaven); hence the name Christ-ians.

PS – Nothing like a nice cold to make you miss and appreciate your family; especially your parents.

Actually. The common cold is caused by a virus, not bacteria. =P

Anyways. Soup is your friend. Even more so when you’re sick.
