CC #3 – Authenticity

the desire for authenticiy.

If you’ve ever collected something before, you’ll know how important authenticity is. If you’re buying something, you would want to know it’s the real thing; that it’s not just some fake. Because if it wasn’t really what you were looking for, then it’d be no use to you. But authenticity doesn’t just apply to objects it applies to a lot of things too; ’cause deep down inside we all value authenticity to some degree.

wrong turns

Sometimes I get really upset, or depressed to think about my friends who have turned away from Christ. Or for whatever reason, stop putting Christ first in their life.

I’ve seen so many people just blow off God in their lives. The reasons may vary – but when I see them now, it pains me to know that they reject/push aside God; Especially when they had come to know Him so strongly at one point or another in their life.

I’m depressed to know and see how University has caused so many people to fall. I’m sad that I can no longer say anything that will move the thoughts imbued in their hearts. I’m genuinely upset to see the potential and heart they once had for God dwindle and disappear. I frustrates me that they will not fully experience the joys of walking together in Christ.

But I have learned one thing. And that is God is sovereign, and that He is love. I’ve learned that there are something that just arn’t meant for me to meddle with, and that I’ve got to learn to let go and let God take full reign of everything. That His perfect will, over time, will manifest itself and bring back his lost sheep. For even if one sheep is lost, he will leave behind the other ninety-nine to go and search until he is found.

All I can do now is just lift it up in my prayers, and trust God to take care of the rest.

PS:
I was reading this off my friend’s blog, from way back when, in a random archive and I found a verse right at the top of the page. I love how miracles still happen today.

“For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search and find my sheep. I will be like a shepherd looking for his scattered flock. I will find my sheep and rescue them from all the places to which they were scattered on that dark and cloudy day. I will bring them back home to their own land of Israel from among the peoples and nations. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel and by the rivers in all the places where people live. Yes, I will give them good pastureland on the high hills of Israel. There they will lie down in pleasant places and feed in lush mountain pastures. I myself will tend my sheep and cause them to lie down in peace, says the Sovereign LORD. 16I will search for my lost ones who strayed away, and I will bring them safely home again. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak. But I will destroy those who are fat and powerful. I will feed them.

- Ezekiel 34:11-16

CC #2 – Salt and Light

Contagious – as children living as the salt and light of this world.

You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden. Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house. Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:13-16

I’ve always loved this metaphor, and at the same time – I’ve always neglected certain parts of its message. I’ve never really fully taken the time to understand what Jesus was trying to say during his time on the Mount.

CC #1 – Lost and Found

Recently I’ve been learning about how to become a Contagious Christian (CC) and I guess I’ll post a series of things I’ve learned from sermons, sunday schools and readings[1] I’ve been doing. And hopefully you too can become a vessel for this infectious faith we carry and spread it to those we meet.

Ever heard of the business pyramid?

If you havn’t, the pyramid works in a way such that the boss is at the top of the pyramid, with lower ranking employees under it. Of course at the base of the pyramid lies it’s customers – and like the shape of a pyramid suggests there are fewer ppl on the top, and numerous on the bottom.

well, a man suggested after lots of research to implement a ‘reverse pyramid’ program at the company stating that we should have customers first. and of course that kind of sounds obvious, but we all need the reminder every now and then.

and likewise, although God is at the top of our pyramid – we can’t forget that God loves his people too. and that we need to put his people higher up on our priority list.

unspoken connection

waiting upon the Lord is something that I’ve started to do recently.
it feels awkward at first.
to be silent and not say a word
to wait and see what God has to say
but after a while you learn to enjoy the silence
and you come a little closer to God

it may sound abstract,
but its analagous to the awkward silence that exists between two unfamiliar friends, at first;
and how it goes away as your friendship develops.
how you can just sit in the same room in total silence
without feeling obligated to say or do anything

waiting on the Lord
is where you feel the unspoken connection
and learn to know his presence
and be renewed by his strength
a form of wordless worship
a silent surrendering of the soul to God
a desire to know more about our father

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint.
